Here's What Happens During a Dental Emergency Exam

If you’re experiencing a dental emergency in Grapevine, TX, our emergency dentist is focused on relieving your pain and saving your smile. Also, we do everything we can to get you into our office as soon as possible.

The first step is identifying your emergency.

The Signs of a Dental Emergency

Sometimes minor tooth sensitivity, for example, is not an emergency but a sign you need to see the dentist. However, if you’re in doubt, always call our office.

Signs of a dental emergency may include one or more of the following:

  • Toothache
  • Jaw swelling
  • Face swelling
  • Bleeding
  • Broken tooth
  • Cracked tooth
  • Lost tooth
  • Broken restoration

What to Expect

Our Grapevine, TX emergency dentist will assess your issue quickly and stabilize the situation. This includes easing your pain. Depending on the nature of your emergency, dental work may be completed immediately or scheduled in the near future. But rest assured, our dentist will not leave you in pain or risk your smile.

Our compassionate team is here for you.

How to Prevent Dental Emergencies

The most common dental emergencies are infections. The best way to prevent dental infections is to brush and floss regularly, avoid sugary foods and drinks, see our dentist twice per year for exams, and schedule twice-yearly teeth cleanings.

Exams help our dentist find small issues before they grow into painful problems. And twice-yearly dental cleanings—recommended by the American Dental Association—clear away the bacteria and tartar that can lead to dental infections.

We also recommend wearing a custom nightguard if you grind your teeth and a mouthguard if you play sports.

Dental Emergencies in Grapevine TX

If you’ve experienced a trauma or collision, we want you to go to the hospital immediately and contact us from there. Otherwise, call our compassionate team at the first sign of a dental emergency.
